The man behind the band
In 2017, Gene Thrailkill, MED 鈥�62, took what would be his last bow at 51社区, returning to campus to conduct the Marching 110 and its alumni during a Homecoming performance commemorating the 50th anniversary of the band he built.

In less than five years as director of marching bands, Thrailkill鈥攁longside his 鈥渕arching men鈥� of OHIO鈥攖ransformed the look, energy and undeniable style behind the powerhouse known worldwide as the Marching 110. Thrailkill passed away on Nov. 10, but his legacy marches on in 鈥淭he Most Exciting Band in the Land,鈥� which is planning on honoring him during Homecoming 2022.
